Under the motto "Tuned by Carl Zeiss", the company will introduce the next generation of the CORONA spectrometer line at the 2008 Analytica, which will be held in Munich from April 1 - 4, 2008. The new CORONA PLUS systems continue the line of sturdy, compact VIS-NIR spectrometers launched by Carl Zeiss in 1999.
The first CORONA PLUS systems for the measurement of optical properties such as reflection, transmission, color and coating thickness of transparent samples and coatings have been specially designed for use under industrial conditions and are now available. The combination of the latest polychromator technologies featuring excellent optics and fast, low-noise electronics provides the foundation for maximum sensitivity, linearity and a high dynamic range. The outstanding features of CORONA PLUS are particularly beneficial where speed, sturdiness, reliability and performance are vital, e.g. for complex, fast measurements in quality and process inspection in architectural and automotive glass production or in the plastics, coating and solar energy industries.
Compared to its predecessor, CORONA PLUS features a new optical design that provides higher sensitivity and shorter measuring times. The new PGS polychromators enable higher resolution and an extension of the wavelength range up to 2.2 Ám. Further benefits include a longer service life of the light sources in the NIR, less noise, excellent linearity and the use of modern communication interfaces. The reduced power consumption results in less thermal buildup and therefore higher stability. Most versions are offered either as single or dual beam systems.
The first system of the new generation to enter the market is the CORONA PLUS REMOTE for VIS and VIS/NIR applications, which is optionally available as a single or dual beam version for use with external measuring heads. The successor to CORONA 45 – well established in many industrial areas – will soon be available under the name CORONA PLUS 45. The CORONA PLUS SPOT for measurements with a longer distance between the sample and the measuring head is also in development.
