Easy-to-use lightweight models for twilight conditions
Following in the footsteps of the absolute performance leader, the Victory 56T*, Carl Zeiss now rounds off its proven second line with the Conquest 8x56 T* and 10x56 T*, two binocular models for use during twilight hours and at night.
The outstanding features of these binoculars are the mechanical robustness, high image quality and, above all, the excellent price/performance ratio. These lowlight specialists with a modern design are light and compact, and withstand all weather conditions. In short: proven quality optics and innovative technology at a very attractive price – made by Carl Zeiss.
As with all Carl Zeiss binoculars, the new Conquest models are dust and waterproof; the nitrogen filling prevents the interior optics from fogging.
In particular, the successful and intuitive design of these twilight specialists cannot be overlooked: they fit perfectly in your hands and can be quickly and precisely focused via the center drive. The rotating eyecups are easy to use and lock into the end position.
The housing is particularly robust, while the rubber armoring with its noticeable ribs has a shock-absorbing effect and gives these models a great fit and feel. The lenses can also be washed and are extremely resistant to external influences.
The Abbe-König prisms and high-quality recalculated four-element lenses and eyepieces guarantee excellent optical performance. All optical elements feature the proven Zeiss T* coating; the prisms feature a phase-correction coating.
The fields of view of both models (110 m on the 8x56 T* and 105 m on the 10x56 T*) are very comfortable, with a close focus distance of only four meters.
The luxury of choice: 8x56T* or 10x56 T*?
Which of these binoculars is best suited to the individual hunter? In general, a comparison is worth a 1000 words. In the past, the 8x56 T* was automatically the tool of choice for hunting game at night. This is a good time to mention that the age of the hunter influences the selection of the binoculars. Since the introduction of the 10x56 T* to go along with the 8x56 T* it has been necessary when purchasing to remember that only the pupils of young people open to 7 mm after 20 minutes in the dark. This means that only young people can completely utilize the 7 mm exit pupil offered by the 8x56 T* (calculation: 8x7 = 56) and see a brighter image. Older hunters whose pupils only dilate to 5.5 or 6 mm should therefore consider the 10x56 T* (calculation: 10x5.6 = 56).
The larger exit pupil of the 8x56 T* may indeed provide more comfort, but the 10x56 T* brings game much closer: in other words, the hunter can clearly see more details - with somewhat less brightness. At 10x magnification, the image is somewhat unsteady; the user must also refocus due to the lower depth of field. All this must be taken into consideration. Therefore, it is best to test the new Conquest models and compare them with your old 8x56 model at a dealer.
The new Conquest binoculars come with a cordura bag, a neoprene strap and eyepiece covers. The comfortable air-cell carrying straps are recommended for long periods of use (as day and night binoculars). With the small 3x12 B monocular, an adapter ring and the Binofix binocular holder, the Conquest models can also be used on a tripod as an extremely compact spotting scope with 24x or 30x magnification.
The Conquest 8x56 T* and 10x56 T* models are hunting binoculars featuring the quality expected of Carl Zeiss. They are lightweight, easy to use and deliver the twilight performance demanded by experienced users. They are known for the quality optics and high-quality mechanical parts produced by Carl Zeiss, and an unparalleled price/performance ratio. In short, they are an ideal entry-level tool for young hunters with their first opportunity to hunt, especially for hunting foxes and wild boar.
The new Conquest 8x56 T* and 10x56 T* models will be available at dealers from March 2009. The recommended sales price is €1,145 or €1,195 in Germany (including sales tax).
The Conquest 8x56 T* and 10x56 T* are twilight specialists with a modern design.
The Conquest 8x56 T* and 10x56 T* also demonstrate their strengths while stalking game during the day.
